Automotive locksmithing has changed a lot in the last decade. Most modern keys carry a transponder chip; push-to-start fobs need vehicle-side programming; and high-security keys (Mercedes, BMW, some Audi) need their own tooling. We work on most of it — but call first so we can confirm.
Standard chipped keys for most cars made after the mid-90s. We cut the blade and program the transponder to your specific vehicle on-site. Bring proof of ownership (title or registration) — it's required.
Most modern smart fobs (proximity, push-button start, keyless ignition) can be programmed on-site as long as you have at least one working fob OR proof of ownership and a few minutes for the vehicle to do its programming dance. Call with your year/make/model so we can confirm.
Worn ignition cylinders, keys that won't turn, keys that work intermittently. Most ignition issues are rebuildable — we don't need to replace the whole assembly unless it's truly destroyed.
Cheaper to have a spare than to need one and not have one. We cut spares for most makes and models on-site. Bring the working key plus your title or registration.
Title, registration, or a recent insurance document — any of these works as proof of ownership. A current driver's license. If you have a working key, bring it. If the key is locked inside the car, we'll need to handle the lockout first.
Vehicles from roughly 1995 onward are usually straightforward. Cars older than that may need a simple non-transponder blank, which is even easier. The trickiest cases are luxury European cars from the late 2010s and a handful of EVs — we'll be honest if your vehicle falls outside what we can do on-site.
